Sherlock: A Scandal in Belgravia - What We Know

It's four days until the first of three 90 minute TV movies that make up series 2 of Sherlock, so here's a complete round up of synopses, videos and trailers for episode 1,  A Scandal in Belgravia:

In episode one of this new series, compromising photographs and a case of blackmail threaten the very heart of the British establishment but, for Sherlock and John, the game is on in more ways than one as they find themselves battling international terrorism, rogue CIA agents and a secret conspiracy involving the British government. But this case will cast a darker shadow over their lives than they could ever imagine, as the great detective begins a long duel of wits with an antagonist as cold and ruthless and brilliant as himself: to Sherlock Holmes, Irene Adler will always be THE woman.

Merlin: The Hunter's Heart Consolidated Ratings

The final timeshifted ratings for episode 11 of Merlin series four, The Hunter's Heart, have been released by BARB. The episode, which aired at 8.15pm on Saturday 10 December, got a final rating of 7.12 million viewers: the third best of the series so far (but since the overnights for episode 12 were actually 0.07 million higher than the final ratings for episode 11, soon to be fourth best.) It's a great total for an episode that only got 5.53 million viewers on overnight ratings- a timeshift of 1.6 million. The ratings for the series are:

The Darkest Hour: Part 1 - 6.4 million
The Darkest Hour: Part 2 - 6.8 million
The Wicked Day - 7.04 million
Aithusa - 6.96 million
His Father's Son - 7.4 million
A Servant of Two Masters - 6.94 million
The Secret Sharer - 6.72 million
Lamia - 7.0 million
Lancelot Du Lac - 7.32 million
A Herald of the New Age - 6.9 million
The Hunter's Heart - 7.12 million
The Sword in the Stone: Part 1 - (7.19 million viewers overnight) TBC
The Sword in the Stone: Part 2 - TBC

Sherlock: Complete Series Two Cover Art

The second series of Sherlock isn't going to premiere until New Year's Day, but the cover art (presumably the final art) for the DVD release has been released by Amazon:

Sherlock: Complete Series Two (rated 12) will be released on a 2-disc DVD on January 23 2012.

There's still no sign of a trailer, but expect one very, very soon.

Merlin Gets Biggest Ever Overnight Ratings

Last night's episode of Merlin, episode twelve, The Sword in the Stone: Part 1 improved week by week by one and a half million viewers, to reach overnight ratings of 7.19 million viewers from 8.05pm to 8.50pm last night. This was helped by being sandwiched by the finals of Strictly Come Dancing, and the fact that it was not up against The X Factor (which finished last week), instead a screening of Harry Potter And The Order of the Phoenix over on ITV1. This is not only the highest overnight rating of the series so far (the previous holder of that record was Lancelot Du Lac with 6.01 million) but the highest ever overnight rating over the four series so far of Merlin! When the consolidated ratings are released next week, we should see the ratings timeshift up to 8 million plus: a record for Merlin.

Next week is at 8pm on Christmas Eve, not before or after Strictly, but the episode should benefit from being against Text Santa on ITV1, and having a primetime slot on Christmas Eve.
